4th Annual Flying Spaghetti Monster (FSM) Benefit Dinner Sets Food Donation Record

Local humanist, atheist, and skeptic groups collect 391 lbs of food and raise $2,385.01 for Mid-Ohio Foodbank.

Final results are in for the November 5, 2014 FSM Benefit Dinner. 137 diners enjoyed the noodley goodness prepared by 30 volunteers from local humanist, atheist, and skeptic groups. This fun-filled event featured a raffle and silent auction of items donated by 23 area businesses and local artists/donors. Musicians alternated with raffle drawings to entertain diners. Baked goods and activities for children were available. The 391 lbs of food donated by attendees outstrips the amount collected at the three previous events.

The event was held at the First Unitarian Universalist Church of Columbus. Melissa Lawson served as master of ceremonies in Pastafarian pirate regalia assisted by her son Vlad. Karen Thimmes and Alan Reed gave wonderful musical performances. The 30 volunteers who produced the event are members of the following groups:

  • Central Ohio United Non-Theists (COUNT) [14 volunteers]
  • Omnipresent Atheists (OA) [13]
  • Humanist Community of Central Ohio (HCCO) [8]
