Terry and Paula have been married for 25 great years without God. They’ve been able to love and respect each other without any imaginary person telling them what to do. They’ve comfortable with each other, are able to be themselves without getting anyone else’s permission.
There are some challenges to being atheists in Dallas-Fort Worth, especially those that come from their religious family members. Paula’s family in Corpus Christi knows that Terry is an atheist, but they haven’t dared to ask Paula about her beliefs because they don’t want to find out that she is too. Here in North Texas, Terry and Paula have learned that they have to be careful who finds out that they’re atheists. But they also rely on the social groups they’ve found within the DFWCoR, and have found many friends with similar beliefs.
